What is Talking Therapies?

Talking Therapies is the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies service provided by North East London NHS Foundation Trust and commissioned by NHS Clinical Commissioning Groups in Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge.

We are a free and confidential service, available to people aged 18 years or over, which provides access to expert advice and techniques to help address problems with stress, anxiety, depression, or low mood.  We provide help for people who are experiencing a range of issues including panic attacks, bereavement, work and money worries, trouble sleeping, phobias, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, health anxieties, and much more.

How do I get started?

Getting started is very easy. The simplest way to contact us is by filling in and submitting the form. You can speak to your GP or call us on the following numbers:

Barking and Dagenham

0300 300 1554 option 3  (9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday)

Havering

0300 300 1554 option 2 (8am – 8pm, Monday to Thursday, and 8am – 5pm, Friday)

Redbridge

What happens once I have contacted the Talking Therapies team?

Once you have contacted us we will call you to book in your first consultation with a member of the Talking Therapies team and to answer any questions you may have.

We aim to speak to you within two weeks from the day you first contact Talking Therapies. The first consultation with a specialist will take place over the telephone and last approximately 30 minutes.

If Talking Therapies is the right service for you, we will aim to offer a face-to-face appointment within four weeks from your telephone consultation.

Where are appointments?

We will talk with you about when and where you would like to be seen. We work in various NHS buildings and GP practices and aim to offer flexible appointments that suit you.

Will I have to pay?

No, accessing the Talking Therapies service is 100% free.
